Could Childress Get Released?
There have been some unexpected consequences since Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress decided to dock receiver Troy Williamson a game check for missing the week nine contest against the Chargers due to the death of his grandmother. According to Profootballtalk.com some players and members of the coaching staff are revolting against the decision. Even before the $25,000 fine to Williamson, there were strong signs of discontent. Presiding over a struggling offense and micro-managing the defense has made Childress a target for quiet ire. The thinking is that the Williamson debacle could create major problems for Childress, unless the decision to take Williamson's game check is quickly reversed. If the unrest continues, owner Zygi Wilf might soon feel compelled to make a change, regardless of whether the Vikings run the table. Update: After a numerous amount of players, personel, and fan complaints, Childress announced today that he will be giving Williamson his check back and that he is "very sorry".
