2008 Free Agents- Quarterbacks

Here is the first list of the 2008 free agent class. Over the next few weeks I'll be updating the list. For those of you who don't know the difference between a restricted free agent vs an unrestricted free agent, an Unrestricted Free Agent is able to sign with any team. A restricted free agent is only allowed to get offers from other teams if the player is offered by his own team.

1) Rex Grossman UFA Chicago Bears- Though most fans (especially Chicago fans) think that he is absolutely awful, Grossman does have really good games. The question is, "Will the good Rex or bad Rex show up?" and that question is going to make teams crazy. I do believe that Rex has a chance of starting next year. Re-signed a one year deal with the Bears

2) Jim Sorgi UFA Indianapolis Colts- Sorgi has the potential to be a great quarterback, the only problem is he's behind Peyton Manning. When Sorgi does get time though (even if that means the preseason) he looks dominant. I think that Sorgi might be tired of playing backup and might make a move. He could be next year's Tony Romo for a team. Re-Signed with Colts

3) Derek Anderson RFA Cleveland Browns- Anderson is having the best season of his career, and has earned himself a chance to be a starting quarterback on a good team (besides the Browns). The Browns will look to keep Anderson just in case anything goes wrong with their quarterback of the future Brady Quinn. Re-Signed with Browns

Other Free Agent QB's
-Quinn Gray UFA Jacksonville Jaguars
-Daunte Culpepper UFA Oakland Raiders
-Ken Dorsey UFA Cleveland Browns
-Ryan Fitzpatrick RFA Cincinnati Bengals
-Drew Henson UFA Minnesota Vikings
-Cleo Lemon UFA Miami Dolphins
-Jared Lorenzen UFA New York Giants
-Jamie Martin UFA New Orleans Saints
-Josh McCown UFA Oakland Raiders

Your kiddin me right? You think Kitna is going to play another year, gettin his @ss kicked week in and week out? The Leos need a QB in the worst way! I hope they step up and grab Sorgi before Millan has another brain fart and throws Drew Stanton in to screw things up!

I think the Lions are more likely to draft a quarterback than to pick one up in free agency.

Honestly, I completely forgot about Jim Sorgi. How long has he been in the league now? He should be a very good quarterback since he's learning behind Peyton Manning. And also, some teams should try and contact New England to try and acquire Matt Cassel. He's been patiently waiting as well.

I look at the Chicago Bears' situation and see them as a team that needs more of a scrambling-type quarterback. A veteran like Donovan McNabb (which, I believe, Tommie Harris commented on earlier in the season). Not necessarily a scrambler, but someone who can escape if a play breaks down or the pressure's on (i.e. Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger). With the type of receiving corps they have, I think they're better suited for someone like a Dennis Dixon. Unless they get a proven pocket passer, Chicago needs to stay away from those types of quarterbacks.

YES! JIM SORGI IS GOD!
(just that that Manning guy doesnt get hurt)
Though he resigned for Indy, he will be a star... after Manning retires?

Have any of you actually watched Sorgi play? He's not actually very good. The Colts have given him games to win when they've had their playoff seeding set and he always fails. I've watched him in the preseason and the regular season and have never been impressed. He has happy feet, throws high and often across his body. He's a mop-up guy at best and that's why he signed for another three years of backing up a guy who has missed a total of one snap due to injury since 1998.
