MORE BREAKING NEWS!: Strahan Ends Holdout!

After 24 hours of soul-searching and a conversation with general manager Jerry Reese, seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan has decided to end his holdout and report to the New York Giants. Strahan had been training in Los Angeles for weeks but had not decided whether to continue his career with the Giants until late Friday afternoon. "He's coming back because he wants to keep playing," his agent, Tony Agnone, told the New York Daily News. Strahan missed 36 days of training camp at a fine of $14,288 a day. To allow for his return, the Giants and Strahan reached a settlement in which the total fine was reduced from $514,368, but the amount he owed was still considered substantial. Early in the week, it appeared retirement was more of an option, and Strahan had hoped to make a decision by Monday. Reese described the talks with Strahan as "constructive and positive."

The Falcons will probably make the biggest push for Brunell after losing Michael Vick and having only Joey Harrington right now.

Breaking News: Jaguars To Name QB Garrard

The Jacksonville Jaguars will name David Garrard their starting quarterback for the 2007 season on Friday, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported. Team and league sources said that former starter Byron Leftwich will likely be traded or released. Leftwich missed 15 games the last two seasons because of an injured left ankle. He had surgery last November, more than a month after coach Jack Del Rio benched him in favor of Garrard. The Jaguars have been actively calling teams around the league to gauge interest in Leftwich, who is in the last year of his contract. He had been designated as the starter in the offseason by Del Rio. Team sources said Garrard's continued development in training camp and preseason convinced Del Rio that Garrard was the right quarterback for the team. The Jaguars are also trying to acquire a veteran quarterback to serve as a backup and may turn to former Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell. Garrard went 145-of-241 for 1,735 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season, with a passer rating of 80.5. Leftwich was 108-of-183 for 1,159 yards, seven TDs and five interceptions last season, with a passer rating of 79.0.

Many reporters believed that Cowher would return in 08' after taking a year off, but apparently he's going to take as much time as he wants and may never return to the NFL.

Cowboys Showcasing Jones

There's one reason and only one reason Julius Jones will be gone at the end of the season: The Dallas Cowboys don't think he's special. Think back over the last couple of years. The Cowboys worked out deals with Jason Witten, Bradie James and Roy Williams before or during the final year of their contracts. They're doing the same thing with Tony Romo. There has not been a peep about giving Jones a new deal. The Cowboys think Jones is a good player, but not worth the millions of upfront cash it will take to keep him.

JaMarcus Russell Update

Yes we all know by now JaMarcus Russell still has not signed with the Raiders, and we all know that Russel is asking for more money then the Raiders are willing to give. It has been rumored that the Raiders are apparently putting Russell up on the trade block for another first round pick next year and more, just to see if they can do it. The Raiders are in no desperate need of Russell anymore with the addition of Daunte Culpepper, and backups Josh McCown and Andrew Walters. Culpepper has looked like his old Vikings self in the preseason and may keep the starting job for the 2008 season and maybe more if Russell doesn't sign soon. Sorry!

Hey readers, sorry about the site being down for the last three days. Due to severe weather the electricity at my house was knocked out so I had no way to update the site. Here's what has happen when the site was down... Michael Vick was suspended indefinitely without pay by Roger Goodell for his role in the dog fighting situation. Donald Driver was injured in the Packer's last preseason game. He was tackled and hurt his ankle, it does not appear to be a very severe injury but he could miss a good chunk, if not all of the 2007-08 campaign. Devin Hester left the Chicago Bear's preseason game early with an injury to his shoulder, it is unknown how severe it is though he was in a lot of pain it seemed. Tatum Bell left the Lion's game early with an injury to his lower right leg, it is again unknown how severe the injury is. Some big news out of the Chief's camp, coach Herm Edwards named Damon Huard the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. It was a shock to many who believed that Brodie Croyle was going to have the starting spot this season. Once again I am very sorry for not being able to update the site and I hope this little summary of the last few days helps. Culpepper Makes It To #1

Daunte Culpepper will be Oakland's starting quarterback in the Raiders' preseason game Friday night against St. Louis. Culpepper, who signed with the Raiders as a free agent July 31 after being released by Miami in the offseason, has been taking the majority of reps with Oakland's starters in practice this week but coach Lane Kiffin didn't announce his plans until Wednesday. "I know Daunte's excited about it, I could tell when I told him," Kiffin said. "He's very excited to get a shot so we'll see what happens." Culpepper is the third quarterback to start for the Raiders this preseason. Josh McCown started against Arizona on Aug. 11, while Andrew Walter got the nod against San Francisco last Saturday. McCown will work in relief of Culpepper against the Rams, while Walter is No. 3 on the depth chart. Fantasy Meaning: Culpepper getting the nod this week does not mean that he will be the starting quarterback in the regular season so he is still a very very risky pick in any fantasy league and I advise anyone that you should NOT take any Raiders QB.

Mangini Threatens Team/ Pennington vs Kellen

Mangini also said that Chad Pennington is for sure the starter this year, but has gained confidence in rookie backup Kellen Clemens. Pennington has been shown up in the preseason by Clemens, who has four TD passes and two interceptions in the first two preseason games. Fantasy Warning: Yes Pennington had a huge season last year, but he did have a career-high 16 interceptions...If Pennington continues to struggle do not expect Mangini to hesitate to put Kellen Clemens in the game. Larry Johnson Being Traded?

It seemed that in the past two weeks the Kansas City Chiefs and running back Larry Johnson have been growing farther and farther apart in contract negotiations. The Packers are in need of a running back after Ahman Green left, but they intent on helping make rookie Brandon Jackson their back of the future. The Bengals need some help at running back after losing rookie back-up Kenny Irons. The only problem with that would be that they have Rudi Johnson who can be an every down back but would have to be the backup with LJ being a workhorse. Trotter Gets Released

Four-Time Pro-Bowler middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles. A nine-year veteran, Trotter was informed of his status in a meeting with coach Andy Reid. The Eagles suggested that the now-unrestricted free agent consider retirement, but the 30-year-old's preference is to continue playing in the league. Trotter's release will become official when his name appears on the NFL's internal transactions wire this afternoon. In 131 games with the Eagles (1998-2001, 2004-2006) and Redskins (2002-2003), Trotter has 1,184 tackles, 12½ sacks and nine interceptions. He has notched 100 or more tackles in seven seasons, and 150-plus tackles five times, and had 202 stops in 1999. Expect Trotter to sign with another team soon, the only reason the let Trotter go was because they feel that Takeo Spikes will better fit their defense.

BREAKING NEWS! MICHAEL VICK TO PLEAD GUILTY!

AP Press Release: Michael Vick's lawyer said Monday the NFL star will plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges, putting the Atlanta Falcons quarterback's career in jeopardy and leaving him subject to a possible prison term. The offense is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, although federal sentencing guidelines most likely would call for less. Vick's plea hearing is Aug. 27. "After consulting with his family over the weekend, Michael Vick asked that I announce today that he has reached an agreement with federal prosecutors regarding the charges pending against him," lead defense attorney Billy Martin said in a statement. "Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter." NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has barred Vick from the Falcons' training camp but has withheld further action while the league conducts its own investigation. Vick is charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiracy to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. He had pleaded not guilty last month and vowed to clear his name at a November trial. Check back frequently for more updates, and news on his coming suspension...

Falcons Very Thin At QB's

Michael Vick is gone with legal troubles, leaving Joey Harrington as the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Now the Falcons have even more problems. In Friday nights preseason game, the Falcons lost backup D.J. Shockley for the entire season, Shockley tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee and also suffered damage to the medial collateral ligament. This leaves just Harrington and Chris Redman as the Falcons quarterbacks. This could force the Falcons to make a trade or pick up an available free agent quarterback. One possibility is the Falcons taking the loser of the Cleveland Brown quarterback situation (Derek Anderson or Charlie Frye), or the Raiders QB challenge (Daunte Culpepper, Josh McCown, Andrew Walters). The best scenario would be Michael Vick being cleared of all charges and resuming his job as the starting quarterback...but thats just a scenario!

Broncos Trade Warren To Raiders

The Denver Broncos have traded defensive tackle Gerald Warren to the Oakland Raiders for an undisclosed pick. The trade came after the Broncos held Warren out of both their preseason games while they shopped him around the league. It was believed that, if Denver failed to find a viable trade partner by early this week, they would release the six-year veteran tackle. Washington was among the teams that would have been interested in Warren as a free agent. In Oakland, Warren, now traded for a second time in three seasons, joins a tackle depth chart that includes veterans Warren Sapp, Terdell Sands, and Tommie Kelly.

Jason Campbell Hurt

Campbell was hit flush on the knee in the first quarter by Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel, who was assessed with a personal foul for a low hit on a quarterback in the pocket. Campbell grabbed his knee in pain and remained on the field for a couple of minutes before gingerly limping to the sideline. X-rays revealed only a bruise - and no serious ligament damage that could ruin his season. ``The scary thing about it, when he hit me, it just felt awkward,'' Campbell said. ``It felt weak, but after they started stretching and pulling on it a little bit, the strength got back into it. Right now it's just stiff and sore, so I expect a full recovery soon.'' Campbell isn't sure how soon, but he should recover in time for the regular season. Washington was hoping the same thing as he kept usual sunny disposition while talking about his elbow, which popped out of place when it got caught between two helmets during a tackle. If Campbell is out for any part of the regular season, this could be the final blow to an injury plagued Redskins. They have already lost running back Clinton Portis for part of the season and Mark Brunell just is not the same quarterback he used to be.

Packers Rout Seahawks

Aaron Rodgers threw 10-16 for 97 yards and a touchdown, but fumbled twice. Not only did the first and second offenses and defenses have great games, but so did the special teams. Return man Will Blackmon ran 83 yards on a kick return before getting a horse-collar tackle which tacked on another eight yards to the play. The player of the game award goes to James Jones who caught two touchdowns for 58 yards in just 2 and 1/2 quarters of play.

On The Block: Robert Ferguson

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced today that wide receiver Robert Ferguson will no longer play with the Green Bay Packers and they Packers will be looking to trade him. Ferguson, who was a 2nd round pick six years ago was projected to be a superstar, but was a bust. Ferguson was clearly losing the battle for being the fourth receiver behind Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and James Jones. This was a huge blow for Ferguson who lost the number two position shortly after Greg Jennings joined the team. Ferguson had a bad foot sprain four games into the season and was put on the IR.

More Pacman News...

Well Pacman Jones is at it again...Suspended Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is not expected to play in the NFL this season, so he keeps looking for new ways to stay busy. First there was wrestling, now it's hip-hop. His National Street League Records, based in Atlanta, announced Wednesday that Jones will team with producer Spoaty in a duo called Posterboyz with their first single "Let it Shine" being released Aug. 27. The song talks about big money, cars and jewelry. This latest venture might cause more problems for Jones with the National Football League. Officials are looking into whether or not the record label's name, National Street League Records, infringes on the league's trademark, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. (And yes I do know that the picture has nothing to do with music!)

Hot Topic Of The Day

We all know how big of a problem steroids and other performance enhancing drugs are in sports. Chambers Pleads Not Guilty To DWI

(AP) Miami Dolphins receiver Chris Chambers will plead not guilty to driving while impaired, his lawyer said Wednesday. George Laughrun said Chambers will fight the charge stemming from his arrest July 14, when he was pulled over several miles south of downtown Charlotte. Chambers was also charged with reckless driving and speeding. A hearing on the case scheduled for Wednesday was postponed until Sept. 26. Laughrun said Chambers was charged with DWI despite a blood-alcohol level of .06, below the legal limit of .08. Under stricter drunk driving laws in North Carolina, Chambers could still be convicted. Chambers, Miami's top receiver, made the Pro Bowl in 2005. He had 59 catches for 677 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Raider's Coach Still In Hospital

Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin underwent more tests in the hospital Tuesday as he missed another day of practice while recovering from a viral infection. Kiffin has been at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center since Monday morning for tests and observation. The hospital didn't provide information on his condition, but the Raiders said the coach would stay there again Tuesday night. Kiffin is expected to return in time to coach Saturday's exhibition game against the San Francisco 49ers. "We're very optimistic that Lane will be with us shortly, hopefully tomorrow," Raiders spokesman John Herrera said Tuesday night. "But we don't know that for sure." Kiffin, 32, is the youngest coach in the NFL, making his health problems even more of a surprise to his players. Quarterback Andrew Walter said his coach would "have to be pretty sick not to be out here," and the team would try to go on like nothing had changed.

Vick, Defense In Plea Negotiations

Well this isn't the type of negotiation Michael Vick is used to. He's used to multi-million dollar contract negotiations with the Falcons and Nike...but this is much different. According to the associated press, Michael Vick and his defense team are in negotiations for a plea deal. Michael was left alone after his co-defendants all plead guilty and made their own deals against Vick, leaving him to sort out the mess. There is a huge chance that Vick will take a deal and go to jail and will probably be suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Young Lets It Slip

During a recent interview, Vince Young accidentally told reporters that the reason he was benched for the Titan's first pre-season game was because he did not sleep at the hotel with his team, he instead went home and slept in his own bed. Titan's rules state that the entire team must stay at the same hotel the night before a game unless given permission otherwise. Young did not get permission from coach Jeff Fisher, so he was disciplined by being benched for one game. (This could be the first of many things to go wrong for Vince Young, who was on the cover of Madden 08' [Madden Curse])

Madden 08 Is Out!

Finally the day has come...Madden 08' is out and better than ever! I was lucky enough to get one this morning and believe me it is awesome! For those of you who didn't like Madden 07' it may be time to upgrade to Madden 08'! In this Madden, your players can now identify strengths and weaknesses of the other team and there players. The players can also react to mismatches and help each other out. But my favorite part is that they finally brought franchise mode back to its original way...now you can once again have a fantasy draft (which in my opinion was always the best part of Madden). The controls are still very easy to learn, and now you can also throw backward passes, auto-motion, and low hitting tackles. I would give this Madden an A+ for satisfaction...Oh and by the way the graphics are amazing! Fantasy Warning!!: Vince Young is on the cover of Madden 08' and if you do believe the Madden Curse you do not want to draft Vince Young this year because he will get injured!

How Long Should Vick Be Suspended For?

Well we all know about the Michael Vick scandal, and how much it has impacted the NFL, the Falcons organization and of course Michael Vick himself. But how long does Vick deserve to be suspended for? Roger Goodell is trying to be a very strict commissioner, suspending Pacman for a year, and Tank Johnson and Chris Henry are each missing eight games. But this is a different type of situation, Michael Vick is a huge star in the NFL, he got the record for most rushing yards by a QB and most rushing TD's by a QB. Now Vick has yet to be proven guilty, though most believe he is but dog fighting is a disgusting crime. In my opinion Vick should be suspended for the entire 07-08' season and maybe even part of the 08-09' season, but I'm a dog lover so I am a little biased. This week's poll will be about Michael Vick's suspension time...so make sure you vote! leave a comment about how long you think Vick should be suspended for or email me at bamsnflrumors@yahoo.com. I will post your emails online if they are relevant.

Thomas Jones Gets Injured

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- New York Jets running back Thomas Jones limped off the practice field after injuring his lower right leg Sunday. There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of the injury, but it appeared to be either to his ankle or calf. Jones wasn't made available to the media, and coach Eric Mangini had already addressed the media before practice. Jones was untouched during running back drills when he went to plant his right foot and fell. He immediately took off his helmet and untied his shoe before he was examined by a trainer, who wrapped his lower right leg. Jones, acquired from Chicago to give New York a bona fide No. 1 back, limped off the field to the sideline and had a more substantial wrap placed around the leg.Jones spent the rest of practice on the sidelines, working the hand bike and stretching. He walked very gingerly, but was able to put weight on the leg. Jones also was clearly able to move his ankle.

Green Bay Has Best Showing Of Rookies

In the first preseason game of the year, the Green Bay Packers had the best showing of there rookies. Brandon Jackson (who is my prediction to be offensive P.O.Y.) carried the ball 16 times for 57 yards with a 3.6 avg. But even bigger was rookie James Jones who caught the ball 6 times for 58 yards with a 9.7 avg. Even the rookie kick return David Clowny showed up with a 24 yard kick return (the longest of the game). But the rookie who made the greatest impact was Mason Crosby, the kicker who made a 52 yarder in the 3rd quarter. The Packer rookies get an "A" for that game.

Young Gets Benched

AP Release: Tennessee quarterback Vince Young sat out Saturday night's exhibition with the Washington Redskins, and coach Jeff Fisher said the punishment was for violating an unspecified team rule. The 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year had been due to play three or four series and start the Titans' first preseason game. But Fisher said in a statement about an hour before kickoff that backup Kerry Collins would start the game instead. "He will be on the sidelines tonight, will practice this week and play next weekend at New England," Fisher said in the release. Young started in Philadelphia last season after missing the team flight in Nashville. The quarterback had to fly into Philadelphia on his own but was not held out of that game. The Titans won that game to snap a two-game skid, only their third victory after starting the season 0-5.

Pacman Can't Wrestle

The Tennessee Titans got a court order Friday that prohibits suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones from participating in wrestling. Jones was scheduled to make his debut with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on Sunday in a pay-per-view event titled "Hard Justice." Citing its contract with Jones, the team said it asked a Tennessee court to intervene in order "to protect our rights in this instance." "All NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibit them from engaging in activities 'which may involve a significant risk of personal injury,"' team spokesman Robbie Bohren said in a statement. "We certainly believe wrestling to be hazardous, and it is obvious from the player's conduct that he is ignoring this aspect of his agreements with the club." Chancery Court Judge Robert E. Lee Davies agreed, saying Jones should be prohibited from "participating in any activities that 'may involve the risk of serious personal injury."' "Mr. Jones is hereby restrained from providing any 'wrestling' or 'performing services' to TNA ... including but not limited to the TNA "Hard Justice" pay-per-view event ... for as long as this restraining order is in effect," Davies ruled. The injunction strictly bars Jones from participating in any TNA event, as a "wrestler, spectator, announcer, participant or otherwise ... "

Irons' Season Ends Before It Begins

Cincinnati Bengals rookie Kenny Irons was expected to split carries with runningback Rudi Johnson this year. It looks like Rudi has the sole position now as Irons tore his ACL in last nights game vs the Detroit Lions. The former Auburn star tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee in Thursday's preseason opener and will require surgery. The Bengals said they expect Irons to recover fully and rejoin the team for next spring's offseason program. Irons, 23, limped off the field following a 7-yard gain against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. It was his fourth rushing attempt of the contest and, in all, he gained 16 yards on the ground. The 49th player chosen overall in this year's draft, Irons had been one of the Bengals' standouts in training camp.

1)New England Patriots - With Adalius Thomas, they'll be dangerous
2)Baltimore Ravens- Same defense, just no Thomas...not a huge blow
3)Green Bay Packers- Keeping all of their starters, AJ Hawk will be huge this year
4)Chicago Bears- Sent away Chris Harris, no Tank Johnson, but did get Archuleta
5)San Diego Chargers- 61 sacks last year! Merriman better not get caught!
6)Carolina Panthers- Great at getting shut outs, dominating D-Line
7)Atlanta Falcons- They'll be on the field a lot with the offense they have!
8)Philadelphia Eagles- With Takeo Spikes, they have 4 potential pro-bowlers...deadly
9)Dallas Cowboys- Added Greg Ellis, Tony Spencer, great linebacker corps.
10)Denver Broncos- Yes they have the best cornerbacks, but the line isn't great
11)Jacksonville Jaguars- If healthy, the defense will be top five
12)Seattle Seahawks- Again, If healthy the defense will be top ten
13)Cincinnati Bengals- Lots of interceptions, sacks, hope no one gets arrested!
14)Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Easy schedule against bad offenses...could be good??
15)Oakland Raiders- Still have Warren Sapp, and they get tons of sacks
16)Pittsburgh Steelers- No more Joey Porter, and the D-Line is ineffective
17)Miami Dolphins- With Joey Porter they'll be better, tons of sacks, bad secondary
18)St.Louis Rams- Leonard Little, Tye Hill...this could end up being a great D.
19)Arizona Cardinals- Still a mess, but the secondary is getting better
20)New Orleans Saints- Nothing special, but put up decent numbers
21)Cleveland Browns- Really not good, but better than all of the other defenses left
22)New York Giants- Strahan's upset, the defense is very inconsistent...
23)New York Jets- Again, like the Giants very inconsistent...bad secondary
24)Kansas City Chiefs- Two rookie defensive tackles will be a weak point
25)Minnesota Vikings- Great at stopping the rush, but worst in the league at pass D.
26)Tennessee Titans- No Pacman, no sacks...pass them up
27)Washington Redskins- Traded Archuleta after one bad season, nothing good at all
28)Buffalo Bills- Solid D, but doesn't put up fantasy numbers
29)Detroit Lions- Traded DRE BLY the only good player on their defense!
30)San Francisco 49ers- Secondary is better, but its still an awful defense
31)Indianapolis Colts- Let their already bad defense get worse during the offseason.

Corey Dillon To Packers?

Former New England running back Corey Dillon, currently on the free agent list has been reportedly looked at by the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay has a very thin running back group because of numerous injuries. As of now there starting back is rookie Brandon Jackson who would split time with Vernand Morrency who is currently injured. The Packers would be looking for an experienced NFL back to help out Brett Favre and Dillon would be a perfect fit considering he played with Tom Brady and the Patriots. UPDATE: It has also been rumored that the Packers were considering trading for Chargers backup Michael Turner or Kansas City's Larry Johnson. It doesn't seem likely that the Chiefs would trade away the star running back but he is holding out right now because of contract disputes. The Packers would likely have to send over a first round picks and some other players/picks. Turner would be more logical because he would be much cheaper because of his status as a backup to LT.

Russell Asking To Much

JaMarcus Russell, the first overall selection in the 2007 draft by the Oakland Raiders is still holding out. Persons inside of the negotiations have said that the reason it is taking so long is because supposedly Russell is asking for more money than most high profile starting quarterbacks make. He is looking for more than what second pick Calvin Johnson received from the Lions (6yr/64m). That would be to much money for the Raiders who do not have the salary cap room for that kind of deal. Expect negotiations to heat up in the next week before the signing deadline.

Take A Walk In Takeo's Shoes

Takeo Spikes is know as one of the hardest tacklers in the game. A large 242 pound linebacker, Takeo has led many teams in tackles, forced fumbles, and more. Takeo has earned two pro bowl appearances with the Buffalo Bills until an injury last year. He has now been in the league for eight seasons and still has not yet been on a playoff team. This year, he has a chance to change that. In March, Takeo was part of a multi-player deal that sent he and Kelly Holcomb to the Eagles for Darin Walker and a conditional 2008 draft pick. The Eagles are a playoff caliber team if Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook stay healthy. With the addition of Takeo Spikes, the new Philidalphia defense will have Jevon Kearse, Jeremiah Trotter, and Brian Dawkins, all great players. Fantasy Managers: Picking the Philadelphia Defense could be a great move this year considering all of the impact players. Phili will be a tough team to score points on this year if none of the impact players get injured.

After getting a second opinion on his knee, Dolphin's linebacker Joey Porter has had his third arthroscopic knee surgery. The recovery period should be around two weeks, but as a procaution he may miss the entire preseason, which would not be a big deal for a player of his status.

Who Will Be The Bears QB In The End?

There are many rumors right now surrounding the Bears quarterback situation. As of now, the Bears publicly back quarterback Rex Grossman who at times last year had flashes of greatness, but also played some games like he was a high school kid in the NFL. Before last season, the Bears signed free agent Brian Griese to backup Grossman in case of emergency, but he was never used. The new rumor is that Kyle Orton, the starter two years ago for the Bears has been out performing both Grossman and Griese after he did extended workouts over the off-season to improve his strength. Though most fans would probably be sick if they saw him play again, Kyle Orton could be the bears quarterback later in the season if anything goes wrong with Grossman.

Jason Campbell Looking Good

Jason Campbell, the starting quarterback from the Washington Redskins has been looking very sharp during training camp. Rumor is that after his rocky start last season the coaches have been working on his delivery and it has helped. They shortened his throwing motion which gives him more time in the pocket, which also gives him more confidence that he has more time to wait for the perfect throw. Campbell could be a steal for some fantasy owners as he could be one of this year's sleepers/emerging stars.

No Brady Quinn, No Worries

Brady Quinn, the 22nd selection by the Cleveland Browns is still holding out of training camp. Most people expected Quinn to have the starting job as quarterback right now but it looks as though it will either be Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson for the beginning of the season. According to NFL rules, all teams had to make their first depth chart Monday, and listed as the starting quarterback was Charlie Frye. But don't expect anything from the Browns because coach Crennel has said that he has not committed to Frye being the starter for even the first preseason game Saturday. Fantasy Warning: Drafting any Browns quarterback can be a risky move because of the lack of one quarterback who is definitely better than the others, Brady Quinn would be the best pick in the later rounds of a draft though in case he gets the starting nod mid-season or earlier.

Joey Porter Gets A Second Opinion

Recently added Miami Dolphin Joey Porter is going to another doctor for a second opinion on his knee that he had injured in the beginning of the off-season. Porter has had the knee checked out by the team doctor and was told to go have arthroscopic knee surgery. The surgery is an easy one and would only sideline Porter for two weeks. The Dolphins first preseason game is this Saturday so don't expect him to miss any regular season action.

Hester Looking To Be An Offensive Target

Star kick/punt returner Devin Hester is was the first player to ever have a speed rating of "100" in the video game Madden 08', what else could he want? Well, he wants to be a standout wide receiver now for the Bears. Blessed with amazing speed, Hester returned two kicks and three punts for touchdowns, and now is looking to get some passes from Rex Grossman or whoever the quarterback might be for some touchdowns. The question is, will being a wide receiver tire him out for the returns? Coach Lovie Smith has faith in the converted receiver, and Hester will get his looks this year on offense. Hester could be a steal for some fantasy managers in the later rounds. If open in the later rounds, draft Hester and keep him on the bench and wait to see if he progresses into a reliable receiver option.

Jarvis Moss Hurts Knee

Jarvis Moss, the Denver Broncos first round pick in the 2007 draft has hurt his knee in practice. The defensive end was doing a 1-on-1 drill when he "twisted" his knee. He was taken off the field to get an MRI. It does not look like it will be a very long term injury. He might just miss some preseason action. Do not expect this injury to affect the Denver defense at all.

Colts McFarland Out

Colts defensive tackle Anthony McFarland hurt his knee Friday and is likely out for the season. McFarland hurt the patella tendon in a scrimmage, and coach Tony Dungy called the injury "serious". This is a major blow to an already shaky Colts defense. Fantasy Warning: Do not pick the Colts defense unless you have to! They have already lost key members of their defense through free agency and injury.

T.O Is Hurt...Again

Terrell Owens, the Cowboys star receiver is hurt once again. This time it is his lower back that has been giving him some stiffness. T.O. was giving a precautionary MRI, but coach Wade Phillips believes that it's just back spasms. T.O. had worked four straight days after being given time off by coach Phillips after his legs were sore. Here's a list of Terrell's problems over the last two years as a Cowboy... He strained his hamstrings, broke his fingers, has had sore legs, and a stiff back.

Priest Holmes

Yes, we've all heard about Priest Holmes attempt to comeback to the NFL at age 34 after what would seem to be a "career ending" hit nearly two years ago. Lately there have been rumors of the Chiefs using Priest's comeback as leverage to get Larry Johnson, who is currently holding out because of contract issues to come back for less pay. There are also rumors that the Cowboys have some interest in Holmes. The Cowboys are pretty thin in their running back group, having Marion Barber III and the declining Julius Jones. Holmes would be a nice supplement to that group...if he can still play. In a recent report Holmes has said that he wouldn't mind playing for the Cowboys if the Chiefs didn't want him.

Chiefs Sign First Round Pick Bowe

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed their first round pick Dwayne Bowe, the Louisiana State wide receiver. Financial terms have not been disclosed yet but it is rumored to be for five years at around $45-50 million. Bowe's signing leaves only three unsigned first round picks from the 2007 NFL draft, JaMarcus Russel (No.1.-Oakland Raiders), Darrelle Revis (14th NY Jets), and Brady Quinn (22nd-Cleveland Browns).

Suspended Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones signs with TNA

Cornerback Pacman Jones, who was suspended for the entire 2007-2008 NFL season after numerous run-ins with the law has signed a contract with the professional wrestling show TNA. So far it is unclear if Jones himself will be wrestling or if he will be doing something else such as commentating. Pacman will not be eligible to play in the NFL until the Titan's 10th game which is November 19th, where he will have his case interviewed. According to his agent, Jones does understand that his NFL contract prohibits any non-NFL activities that could cause injury...which would include wrestling.

Driver Recieves Another Contract Extension

Donald Driver, the two-time pro-bowl receiver for the Green Bay Packers has been given a one year extension to the contract extension that he signed last year. The additional year, which is worth $11 million dollars will give him net raises of about $1.6 million this season and $1 million for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. The new contract really gives Driver an additional $4 million dollars for just one extra season. Driver reached carrier highs last year, which was his first year as the number one receiver after Javon Walker was traded to the Broncos. Driver had 92 catches, 1,295 yards and eight touchdowns, which earned him the starting spot on the probowl team. In his eight year carrier (all with the Packers) Driver has earned 421 receptions, 5,929 yards, and 36 touchdowns. Since moving into the starting spot in 2002 he has averaged 76.8 catches, 1,108 yards, and 6.6 touchdowns per season. This contract extension was well deserved.

Who Will Be The Raiders QB?

Raider fans don't need to worry...yet, but so far the Raiders have failed to sign JaMarcus Russel. The Raider execs don't have to rush though after signing the released Miami quarterback Daunte Culpepper. The Raiders do have depth in quarterbacks with Andrew Walter who as of now is the number one quarterback, and Josh McCown who was signed earlier this off-season. Expect the Raiders to sign Russel soon now that Calvin Johnson the college-star wide-out who was chosen after Russel by Detroit signed a multi-million dollar contract worth $64 mil. Russel should be looking at a numbers around 6 years, $70 million dollars. But, do not expect Russel to be starting in the beginning of this season now that he has missed key practices in training camp... Daunte Culpepper is the most likely to be the Raiders starting QB this year, unless he has a bad pre-season or Andrew Walter has a very good one.
