What's Up With JaMarcus Russel?
Well we all know that JaMarcus Russel is still holding from joining the Oakland Raiders until he gets a good contract, but what is taking so long? Well I got some inside news that JaMarcus Russel is reportedly asking for a salary that would be bigger than most starting quarterbacks in the NFL. It's also been reported that he wants a five year deal, while the Raiders would be looking for a long-term deal. There were a few rumors (which I don't personally believe) that the Raiders were looking to trade Russel for a teams first round pick next year and more... haha, ya that would be pretty funny. Really the Raider's future depends on this guy.
They could not have draft him they could take CLavin Johnson and get Troy Smith in the 5th round or Chris Leak or other QB but there GM thinks he knows everything.
Yes there were other viable options, but it did seem that JaMarcus Russel was the BEST player in the draft. The Raiders needed a quarterback and Russel was the perfect fit for there offense. They really had no way of knowing that Russel was going to give them such a hard time in the contract negotiations.
