Losman Out Because Of Financial Situation?
Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. is under scrutiny from his players after rookie Trent Edwards was named the starting quarterback again this week, even though incumbent J.P. Losman is healthy, according to a source. One Bills player who wished to remain anonymous said many in the locker room believe Wilson's financial plight or philosophy has influenced the decision, which could save him millions in playing time incentives for Losman. In his first full season as a starter in 2006, Losman was the league's 11th-rated passer. He was also fourth in completions longer than 40 yards and was voted a team captain by his teammates this past summer. Losman will be a free agent after the 2008 season, so a new contract was on the horizon, too. In three games this season, Losman is 30 for 47 for 255 passing yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Edwards is 66 for 100 for 660 passing yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.
