Lions Sign Bell
Tatum Bell is back with the Detroit Lions. The running back has agreed to a one-year, $1.6-million deal, a source told the Detroit Free Press. Bell's agent, Kennard McGuire, confirmed there was an agreement Monday, but did not confirm the terms. It seemed unlikely Bell would return to Detroit after last season. He did not play in the Lions' last 11 games, after running back Kevin Jones returned from a foot injury and Bell asked for a trade. He became an unrestricted free agent. But there is an opportunity for playing time now. Jim Colletto has replaced Mike Martz as offensive coordinator, and the Lions plan to run the ball more. T.J. Duckett left as a free agent. Kevin Jones and Brian Calhoun are recovering from knee injuries. The Lions lost out on free agent Julius Jones, who signed with Seattle, as Duckett did. Source: Detroit Free Press
